The Cedars rehabilitation centre near Durban is nestled amongst the sugar cane fields of KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast. This peaceful and tranquil facility features beautifully landscaped gardens and trees. The original building is over a century old, although it has been modernised and added to over the years. Located in a beautiful, biologically-rich area, clients experience the sights and sounds of a diverse selection of bird and animal life each day, adding to the overarching tranquillity of this peaceful setting.
This is the original Cedars that many recovered patients will remember fondly – founded by Keith and Julia Wilkes in 2002. Accommodating 38 patients in comfort, this grand farmhouse is filled with the echoes of recovery, fellowship and bright futures. Manned by a capable and caring treatment team, you’re assured of great results at the place where The Cedars started.

Activities on Offer
Clients are encouraged to take part in a variety of recreational and fitness activities. All physical activities are customized according to one’s capability. There is an onsite swimming pool and gym, and yoga and aerobics classes under the supervision of qualified instructors. A weekly games night and movie night generate lots of entertainment. From time to time, we host team building events and talent shows that require our clients to learn to trust and work with one another.
Cedars South Coast Estate is located close to the warm, semi-tropical town of Scottburgh on the beautiful Kwazulu-Natal South Coast. We offer an ocean safari – a boat trip during which dolphins and humpback whales are regular sightings. It’s also possible to jump off the boat and snorkel. By special request, dive trips can be arranged on the world-renowned Aliwal Shoal for clients possessing a valid dive qualification. We offer scenic hikes for all fitness levels in the beautiful, surrounding areas too.
